PBS: "It's My Life: High School"
Hello, Parents!

For parents of my 9th graders, welcome to high schoo! I am looking forward to a wonderful year with your children. It is truly an honor to teach them. Ninth grade is perhaps the most important year in high school. This is the year your teenagers begin establishing habits that will see them through to graduation.

For parents of my 11th grade A.P. students, we're almost there! Eleventh grade is key to getting to college. Many of your students may be taking their first Advanced Placement class. My goal is to help all of my students build habits of mind that will enable them to suceed in high school and beyond. I want them to become readers, writers and thinkers capable of using technology responsibly and making complex decisions in our democratic society.

In order to meets these goals, I need your help. I need you to talk to your students about what is appening at school. If you are available, volunteer to help out in the classroo! I always need help filing or keeping up with the books in the classroom library. Perhaps you'd like to come as a guest speaker? Email me! Participate in special events we hold in class. There are many things you can do to support your students as they transition into high school.

Most, if not all, of my lesson plans and handouts will be posted here in my virtual classroom. Click the student tab to access what we are doing in class. Do not hesitate to call or email me if you have questions or would like additional resources.

Here's to a great year!
